What are they? Expansion Bay: - used to store the hard drive - can have different types of hard drive (e.g. IDE, SATA) - a computer usually comes with 3 expansion bays -inside of the computer Expansion Slots: - can have different types of cards - has PCI, PCI-E, PCI-Express x1, AGP, and PCI-E x16 - SSD's. NIC's, Video cards, Sound Cards, FM tuners, etc. - can be accessed from inside the computer -shown at the back of the computer
Overview -PCI means Peripheral Component Interconnect -These are found inside the computer - Found placed on the mother boards facing the ends
Connections to the computer -Found on the Mother Board - some graphic cards need power to they are connected with pins to the PSU (power supply) -Card is pushed into the socket and is then attached to the mother sending and receiving information -Hard drives are connected using SATA or IDE cables straight to the Mother Board
