A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to the care of feral cats, and members of our group work on a volunteer basis to feed, water, and provide medical care for hundreds of feral cats in Knoxville and surrounding areas. We participate in a trap/neuter/return program in an effort to control the feral cat population. The TNR program is where feral cats are humanely trapped by volunteers, taken to a clinic to be spayed or neutered and vaccinated, and returned to their colony where they are most comfortable. We are not an adoption agency nor do we take in unwanted pets. Our organization only holds adoption fairs in order to find homes for socialized kittens born into feral colonies and to re-home stray pets that are abandoned in our colonies! We are funded solely from donations and fundraisers with 100% of money raised going directly to controlling and maintaining the feral cat population. What we can do: mentor you with your TNR (trap-neuter-release) project by teaching you how to use the traps (including care of the cats while in the traps) and loaning you traps to get the cats to the vet or a low cost spay/neuter clinic. What we cannot do: remove feral cats from your neighborhood, place of business, etc., trap and transport the cats for you; loan traps for you to take cats to any animal service for euthanization. Feral cats are cats that have become wild and no longer desire human contact. They were either born feral or started out as pets and reverted to a wild state over time. 1

Thanks to the volunteers who came out and helped with the fundraising event at Krogers Northshore on May 26th. We received many donations of food, litter, etc. and also took in $283. We handed out TNR pamphlets, answered questions about ferals, trapping, adopting, etc. It was a successful day – we hope to try again soon. Thanks so much Deb for getting this together and thanks to everyone who volunteered for this event! ADOPTED : Porshe, Mercedes, Lexus,Hummer, Snap, and Spencer. NEW : Archie and kittens Captain, Evie, and Hot Shot. Everyone gets along and it is ok to let anyone and everyone out. The Petsmart Five Millionth Adoption Celebration is this Saturday, June 16th. There will be face painting, balloons, samples, and other fun if you want to stop by. PLEASE tell anyone who might be interested in adopting that we will have lots and lots of kittens! More kittens due in this week - we need lots and lots of adoptions!! Everyone is invited to come out and play and they have the best time!!! All the adult cats are getting along (or at least tolerating) the kittens too! Even if you are not scheduled to come in and work, you should come by and visit and see how much fun the kittens are! We have 60+ kittens who are scheduled to come into Petsmart within the next 6 weeks! This is kittens ONLY....this number does not include the mommas and other adults! Most feral cats are born, live and die without anyone ever knowing of their existence. Feral cats exist in colonies anywhere food can be found – dumpsters, college campuses, apartment complexes, etc. Attempts to eradicate feral cats have failed, as survivors continue to breed and the “vacuum effect” allows new cats to move in. TNR (Trap, Neuter/spay, vaccinate, Return) is the most humane and effective way of reducing the population. The health and quality of life of feral cats is dramatically improved through TNR and the caring dedication of volunteer caretakers. Studies show that feral cats in managed colonies enjoy the same good health and low occurrence of disease enjoyed by pets. Rabies is overwhelmingly found in wildlife. No one in the U.S. has ever contracted rabies from a cat. 3
