History This cake is original from Lombardy, it is probably very old, dating back to XIII century It was made of bread, honey, raisin and pumpkin. It evolved up until the begining of XX century as we see it today
Anecdote Anecdote about the origin of the name: During the preparation of a ceremony for Lodovico il Moro, the cook forgot the cake in the oven and burned it. Then a servant named Toni improvised a cake with what was left, and it was a great success. After dinner the cook said: this is the cake from Toni “il pan de Toni”
