 Share truthful information  Respect the privacy of others  Use self-control  Correct your mistakes  Don’t lie  Don’t curse  Don’t bully  Don’t be disrespectful Do’sDon’ts THE DO’S AND DON'TS OF SOCIAL MEDIA NETIQUETTE

Plagiarize- to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (a created production) without crediting the source to commit literary theft: present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source FROM: Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary 9th ed, (Springfield, Ma: Merriam 1981, p. 870). WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

For short quotes, use quotation marks within the sentence For longer quotes, indent the entire passage When stating a fact, unless it is general information, give credit to the source When you are not sure, cite! HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

The internet can be a wonderful resource for everyone, but it can also pose hazards. Being aware of those threats can protect both children and adults alike. Some things to be aware of are: Identity theft – Be extremely cautious with revealing personal information Reputation management- use caution on social media sites Passwords- create “strong” passwords, never reveal your passwords to others, and never leave them lying around Cyber bullying & Cyber stalking – parents should monitor who their children are talking to through the Internet, and be aware of the warning signs SAFETY ON THE INTERNET

To avoid things such as viruses, phishing, Trojan horses, worms that may permanently damage your computer, look into safeguarding software programs or other options through your online service provider Use filtering or monitoring software SAFETY ON YOUR COMPUTER
