QAH HospitalPortsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust IT Strategy: The Vision Thing… ‘ All data digitised from the first point of contact with the patient, and all relevant information readily available to care professionals and managers at the touch of a screen.’

QAH HospitalPortsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust IT Strategy: Key Content (1) To transform its care of patients the Trust needs an effective, modern, fully-integrated Clinical Information System (CIS) which: presents all relevant information on a patient that has already been recorded to the next clinician involved in their care helps them quickly order the right tests and tells them when results available supports them in making good decisions on diagnosis and treatment helps them communicate, both inside and outside the Trust, and arrange subsequent treatment without delay. Integration is key to ensuring data collected once & available to all

QAH HospitalPortsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust IT Strategy: Key Content (2) Achieving this via incremental ‘best-of-breed’ route is time- consuming and expensive We will contract with a single CIS solution provider whose platform includes additional ‘bolt on’ modules that will most likely lead to a rationalisation and standardisation of the majority of clinical (and possibly corporate) systems onto a core platform We will enter into a long-term partnership with a CIS solution provider which is motivated to deliver the clinical and efficiency improvements the Trust needs This contract will include provision of the resources to help clinical services achieve the process changes needed for them to fully exploit the new technologies provided
