Every Thursday the children will be given the focus for the Wow Write. They will take a planning book home and are encourage to discuss and note down ideas with parents, carers or other family members. Have a ‘Wow Talk.’ Children who fail to bring in their Wow Write homework on three occasions will be given a detention.

The children will have lessons on their new spellings to learn the rules. On Thursdays they will take their new spellings home to continue to learn for the following week’s test. On Thursdays the children will be tested on their spellings, which will allow their teacher to assess their progress.

Predict – what will the book/ paragraph be about? Questions – after reading the paragraph, do the children have any questions? Clarify – after reading the paragraph, do the children have any words they don’t fully understand and need to clarify the meaning of? Summarise – can the children summarise the paragraph they have just read? To be signed by parents. Reading records will be checked on a daily basis.

Stickers, Stamps, Dojo and behaviour ladder. Children who fail to bring in their homework on three occasions will be given a detention. As the children are now in Year 5, we do expect them to have their PE kits in school for every PE lesson. If your child does not have their PE kit for 3 consecutive lessons they will receive a detention.
