Timetable School starts at 08:45, lessons start at 09:00 School day finishes at 15:15 After school clubs finish at 16:15 We have PE on a Wednesday (Games) andThursday (Gym/Dance) French is taught by our external French teacher on Wednesday Music is taught by Mr Sanderson on Wednesday
What we will be covering this year: Religious Education: Unconditional Love, Family, Giving MATHS AND ENGLISH New curriculum introduced in 2014 Expectations for Y6 in Writing and Mathematics have risen Reading – text based, guided reading sessions, independent reading History/Geography/Art /DT Autumn 1 –Who discovered Chocolate? Science: Electrical Circuits Evolution Living Things and their habitats Light Animals including Humans
School lunches If your child is bringing in a packed lunch to school please make sure it is a balanced meal.
School Uniform Children are to wear the correct uniform every day, including appropriate footwear (shoes only not black trainers.) Dark coloured tights for girls if you wish when the weather gets colder. PE uniform: Children must wear black or blue shorts. They will not be allowed to go on apparatus unless wearing shorts. No leggings (unless for religious reasons). Jewellery is not to be worn at all, including stud earrings.
Behaviour Good to be Green/ 5 circles ACE Assembly House Points Y6 – be responsible, show perseverance, ignore others who make the wrong choices. We have noticed some children are flagging particularly in the afternoons. As you know, regular bedtimes are paramount to good concentration and great work! An average 10 year old needs at least 10 hours sleep a night.
Home Learning READING - Please hear your child read EVERY night. Please sign the reading record book. TIMES TABLES - Your child will be taking part in a Times Table Challenge every Monday. Progress in this each week will be rewarded. Encourage your child to practise time tables as much as possible. It really does help! SPELLINGS - Your child needs to practise their spellings. These are given out on a Monday and will be tested on the Friday. These will be put on the website. HOME LEARNING -Your children will be given a mental maths work book and are expected to complete a page a week. This will be handed out on a Thursday and needs to be returned to school every Tuesday morning. Homework club is on a Thursday after school.

SATs 2017 – Example Q Large pizzas cost £8.50 each. Small pizzas cost £6.75 each. Five children together buy one large pizza and three small pizzas. They share the cost equally. How much does each child pay?
