ENERGY SAVING AND EFFICIENCY OF AIR CONDITION & LIGHT SYSTEMS AT PUBLIC BUILDINGS Meitav-tec (Contel group)
Electrical consumption segmentation in public buildings
A building’s air condition consumers layout
Occupancy sensor potential savings test The test done by the Lighting Research Center in the U.S.A. 60 selected representative organizations – Education, public buildings, health, local governments The test was done in 180 rooms Average percentage time of people presence at the tested location, evaluated in three different situations: - Occupied in an active light - Occupied in a turned off light - Unoccupied but in an active light!
TEST RESULTS Average percentage time of people presence, observed at each tested area shown below Conclusion: People are not strict with turning off the lights on their way out! It is true regarding air condition as well
Temperature limit potential savings verification test Test conducted for 6 months in 4 different departments One air conditioner with temperature limit controller installed on the compressor control output of the air condition controller The second air conditioner without a temperature limit Operating hours counters installed in both air conditioners Counter 1 - Before saving controller- Measure the compressor operating hours directed by the air conditioner control Counter 2 – After saving controller- Measure the actual compressor’s operating hours due to the controller action
Test results Average saving
Saving & Efficiency utilizing room controller and operating panel Room controller inclusive of energy saving advanced software package Full control and command of the air condition unit Activating room light option by the operating panel I.R. Passive I.R. occupancy sensor for air condition & light switching CO2 sensor for rooms fresh air control
Air condition control Proportional cool & heat valves control - Precise temperature adjustment, convenient & save Continuous fan speed – Advanced quiet & economical EC motor (30% saving) Cool & heat temperature limit (One degree change = 5% saving) Daily/weekly operating program Occupancy sensor with saving program for unoccupied rooms Including time related set-point change until A/C complete turn off Advanced technology touch screen room controller
Room light controller Light turn off pending occupancy Option to activate room light via a touch screen Advanced technology touch screen room controller
CO 2 Control – Carbon dioxide In panel CO 2 sensor Measure & show ppm values upon demand Fresh air damper control in room entrance option Efficient & saving floor fresh air unit control & command according to CO 2 level Advanced technology touch screen room controller
IN SUMMARY Smart & efficient rooms control benefit: Decrease air conditioning demand, economical & efficient chillers operation Economical & efficient fresh air units operation at the floors Reduction of room lights electrical consumption IN ESSENCE – SIGNIFICANT SAVING IN BUILDING’S ELECTRIC & ENERGY EXPENSE
