They will open at 8.40am for the children to arrive for the start of the school day at 8.45am and in the afternoon the gates will be opened at 3.10pm so that you can collect your children at 3.15pm. West Coventry Academy – Tile Hill Wood & Woodlands Open morning for year 6 children tomorrow, Saturday 1 st October 10am – 12.30, all welcome. PE Kit: We are very pleased to see children in the correct PE kit for sport and dancing. Thank you to all our parents for your support with this. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school each day – it can stay in school until half term. REMINDER – Payments for Dinner money, Breakfast Club & After School Club: All Key Stage 2 dinners must be paid for in advance or on the day, otherwise Solihull Catering Service require us to provide a packed meal. All payments for both Breakfast and After School Club must be paid in advance, or on the morning of the day the club is to be attended. Positive Parenting Courses: Please ask in the office for details about two valuable courses being held at Limbrick Wood on Tuesday 4 th and Tuesday 11 th October. Details have been sent out again today on a separate sheet. Refreshments will be provided. Dogs: Please remind your children not to torment or go near dogs which have been tied to the external railings, as we wouldn’t want any of our children getting hurt. Taster menu: On Thursday 6 th October our packed lunch children will have an opportunity to try some items on our normal school lunch menu. This will be free of charge for all children. They will still need their packed lunch as usual, but will be able to sample the menu (eg: pizza or bananas and custard). Please let the class teacher know if you do not wish your child to join in with our taster session. School photos: Look out for a letter regarding the individual school photographs which are being taken on Thursday 6 th October. Outdoor Adventure Club: If your child has a place in the Outdoor Adventure club on Thursdays, please ensure they have the correct clothing which is a waterproof coat and wellington boots. It is important they have the right clothing, to ensure we are fulfilling health and safety requirements.

It is preferable that you send the correct money, however if you require change this will be returned to you via your child as soon as possible. 100% Attendance and Punctuality: Year 6 had the highest attendance this week at 98.4%. There were 17 lates this week which affected 6 classes. Please ensure your children arrive at school on time. The bell goes at 8.55am. We are always looking to increase this further, ensuring children are in school every day in order to maximize their learning time and achieve their very best. I will continue to focus on improving punctuality this academic year, as children arriving late not only affects their own learning but also disrupts the rest of their class. Children need to arrive at school between 8.45am and 8.55am, in order to undertake early morning work. Therefore we will continue to record poor punctuality. If children arrive after 8.55am, they will be recorded in the late book and their parents/carers will be asked to sign the late book and record the reason why. Mrs Devine will be closely monitoring children who are continuously late for school, offering support to those families who need it. If children are regularly late for school, then I will also ask parents/carers to attend a meeting with myself and the Children and Family First Team to address this issue more formally. I will keep you all informed via the weekly newsletter, the number of children who arrive late each week and whether this improves. Lunch boxes: Please refrain from putting cherries or grapes in the children's lunch boxes, as these can be a choking hazard. This weeks letters: All – Nationality data Year 4 – Anglo-Saxon costumes School Uniform: Please ensure your child’s clothes and lunch boxes are clearly named, as this helps with returning lost property to the right child. As we are approaching the colder weather, please ensure your child wears their school sweatshirt and/or fleece, as some children are starting to feel a bit chilly. Also, please label your child’s coat. Can I ask that all conversations between parents on the playground are appropriate for children's ears. As adults it is important that adult topics are discussed away from children.
