Class Work

Grading Categories Your child's report card will look very similar to their 1st Grade report card. Student benchmarks and progress throughout the year will be broken down into categories aligning with the state TEKS.

Homework Homework Menu Given on Fridays Due following Friday Includes Reading Log I Matter tickets given for returned homework My face when mom says it’s time to do my homework.

Lunch – 10:45-11:15 The cafeteria offers extra food items that can be paid for with lunch. If you don’t want your child to buy extras, you’ll need to put a block on their account. (chips, cookies, ice cream) You are more than welcome to have lunch with your child at the tables on Main Street. You may bring them lunch. Only your child may sit with you Prices: Students: $1.40 for breakfast, $2.20 for lunch Forgotten lunches should be placed on the grade level shelf outside the cafe. Please let the front office know you left your child’s lunch. ●Name, Teacher & Grade level on left lunches

District Policies Birthdays: * Birthdays may be celebrated in the cafeteria during your child’s scheduled lunch time. Parents may purchase ice cream ($0.75 each) from the school cafeteria. You may bring in purchased treats to share. * Birthday party invitations cannot be distributed at school by students or teachers. This is a district policy. All invitations must be distributed OFF CAMPUS, no exceptions. Sign-in/Sign-out: All adults must sign in at the front office using their driver’s license to receive a visitor’s badge. The safety of our students is crucial. Make sure other family members/friends are listed on the enrollment card. If you are late to pick up your child you will have to sign them out in the office with your ID. Medication: A student cannot transport medicine to and from school. An adult must drop off and pick up the medicine (including cough drops) in the clinic if it is to be dispensed at school.

Campus Policies Biker/Walker BBiker/Walker B: - This location now drops their bikes off by the back Bike Rack. - If you are going to be dropping your child’s bike off please cut through the neighborhoods to drop their bike off in the back since they dismiss out the side of the school and do not go through the front doors to collect their bikes Dismissal Changes: - ALL Dismissal Changes must be sent in by 12:00 pm. that day. Please AND call the front office if you are doing a same day dismissal change - If your child is a daycare rider please notify the daycare as well if they will not be going home via Daycare. Snacks: - We do have a snack time in the afternoon so please pack a healthy dry snack everyday.

Daily Folders: Parent Communication folders are sent home daily. Behavior (please check daily) Check for notes & papers about upcoming school events (Tuesdays). Please clean out folders on Fridays. ☺

Behavior Chart We have a campus wide behavior system. If students have to move their clip down their folders will be signed, and their conduct grade will be affected. BLUE - is expected behavior (following rules) PURPLE - is exceptional (related to problem solving, responsibility, respect, self-sufficiency) GREEN - Common mistakes, opportunity to move back up Student will be given two colors, one for behavior in Math Class and one for their behavior in their RELA Class.

Arrival and Dismissal: Arrival: Students can arrive from 7:30-7:50. If they arrive before 7:30 they will not be allowed to enter the building and will be unsupervised outside. Tardy bell rings at 8:05. Please make it a habit to arrive at school no later than 7:50. Students are dismissed to classrooms to start their day at 7:45 a.m. Dismissal: Whatever dismissal routine you designate at the beginning of the year, we will follow unless you notify the teacher or the front office. Please check to make sure your teacher has been notified of the change. Walkers and bikers should know in advance where they will be picked up on rainy days (either as front car riders or back car riders). Please use car rider signs and hang from rearview mirror with a pant hanger. Please be sure to keep the Bus/Daycare in the West Parking Lot clear for drop off and pick up in the AM and PM.

Box Tops and PTO: ● Please collect Box Tops For Education and send them in! The winning class will receive an award each month. ● Watch for PTO information through the Panther News and the ASE Website.

Miscellaneous: Dress Code: Please refer to your Humble ISD Student Code of Conduct Handbook. Bikes: If your child will be riding a bike to school, please write down the serial number for their bike and keep it someplace safe. In the event that their bike is stolen, this will be a great piece of information for the police. Please make sure that your child knows how they will get home in the event of a Rainy Day Dismissal.
