WHO IS MRS. ROPER? Home Town: St. Anthony, ID Education: Ricks College 1998 – 2000 Brigham Young University 2000 – 2001 Professional Experience: Stansbury Park Elementary, 4 th Grade 2002 – 2005 Syracuse Elementary, 2 nd Grade Syracuse Elementary, 4 th Grade 2014-present Favorite Things: family, teaching, outdoors, watching BYU football, Art, movies, traveling, crafting, and soccer.

Home Town: Layton, Utah Education: Weber State University ( ) Professional Experience: Central Middle School 6 th grade (1 year) Heritage Elementary 4 th grade (2 years) Ellison Park Elementary 4 th grade (2 years) Syracuse Elementary 2 nd grade Syracuse Elementary 4 th grade 2014-present Favorite Things: Teaching, Traveling, Taking pictures, Reading, camping, and being with family

INFORMATION AND NOTES… --These will be given at the Back to School Open House on Tuesday, August 23 rd from 4:00- 6:00pm. All need to be read, signed, and returned by Sept. 2 nd. HOMEWORK FOLDER  This is a DAILY communication between school and home.  Unfinished papers &/or assigned homework will be inside.  When we sign it, all needed papers are inside as noted.  Parent initials are required each day.  There will be a daily reward for bringing it back signed. Folders are due back the following day with completed assignments inside. A = all assignments were finished from that day. Weekly Homework Packets will be given out on Mondays. Daily Behavior level will be written on the chart.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR LEVELS o Each day, students will begin at READY TO LEARN. o Students can move up levels for positive behavior. o They will move down levels for negative behavior. o At the end of each day, the behavior level will be listed on the Homework Folder Chart as shown on the illustration to the left (no change) -2 -3

DAILY HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS Reading:  20 minutes per day.  Give a retell or summarize what was read to a parent or another adult each day.  Parent signs the Reading Log for each completed day, on the weekly homework packet cover. Assignments:  Math and Language Homework pages will come home in the weekly packet, and must be returned on Fridays (unless otherwise noted).  Any unfinished activities from class time need to be completed and returned the following school day.

HOMEWORK IN ADVANCE  Class time assignments will NOT be given to students before leaving on vacation.  Your child’s teachers will need to spend time with him/her individually to teach the missed skills and information. This will be done during recess or prep time.  Homework packets and daily reading time can be done while on vacation and turned in the following school day.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES Weekly Volunteers: Mondays & Wednesdays 10:15-11:15 Mondays-Thursdays 1:15-1:45 Fridays 8:45-9:00 Important Needs: * Head Room Parent * Party volunteers * PTA helpers for events

RECEIVING INFORMATION We’re Going Paperless! (or nearly) School/PTA Handouts will come home in the Homework Folder ( we will not have a separate Tuesday Folder ). BIRTHDAYS AND “TREATS” Treats are completely optional. Healthy Snacks are preferred, or Donate a book to the school or classroom library in the student’s name. Snacks will be passed out during lunch time or at the end of the day.
