Introduction  ( 1 ) Marine simulator has been widely used in the seafarer training. ship manoeuvring , onboard watching & collision avoiding, BRM training , Ship berthing & Departing ; maritime search and rescue, passage planning, nautical navigation, etc..  ( 2 ) Marine simulator has been developed rapidly to full mission simulators.

Introduction  ( 4 ) comprehensive evaluation method :  most commonly used : fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method ; Advantages : systematic, qualitative and quantitative , etc. ; Disadvantages : can not comprehensively illustrate the trainee’s performance during the whole maneuvering.  optimized model : fuzzy structured element method ; not only describe the distance from the trainee’s operation to the experts’ or the standard data, also can comprehensively reflect the uncertain degree of each step during the trainee’s operation ; can provide more guidance for the trainee’s further development.

General procedure of the automatic evaluation of ship maneuvering on marine simulator Ship manoeuvring, ship berthing & departing, collision avoidance,etc

Introduction of Fuzzy Structured Element 

 Actual using in the evaluation : Index Value series of operation results on each index kernel function the expert’s operation value or the standard value, taken as the kernel function the index set to be calculated

Improvement of Traditional fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method 

 The method proposed is much more useful and complete than traditional fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.  Also, it has clear and simple logic structure, easy to be realized on a computer. That is, suitable to the automatic evaluation of ship maneuvering on marine simulator.  Based on the related research project, some actual experiments and working are under doing.

Conclusion  The fuzzy structured element method was introduced into improve the traditional fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.  The results given out can not only describe the distance from the trainee’s operation to the experts’, also can comprehensively reflect the uncertain degree of each step during the trainee’s operation, fully illustrate the trainee’s performance, can provide more guidance for the trainee’s further development.  Although still under research, it is with a good application perspective.
