Presentation transcript:

Adaptation An anatomical structure, physiological process, or behavioral trait that evolved by natural selection and improves an organism’s ability to survive and leave descendants.

Adaptations can be: 1. An anatomical structure – Example: Long neck of giraffe which allows it to eat from the tops of trees.

2.A physiological process - Example: Poison dart frogs concentrate poison in their skin to protect from predation.

3. A behavioral trait – Example: Kangaroos lick their arms to cool themselves because they do not produce enough sweat.

Anatomical structure Physiological process Behavioral trait _______________________________________________________

Imagine you are peeping through a keyhole observing a natural setting. What would the adaptations you observe look like? Draw a scene in which 2 adaptations are visible. Explain what you have drawn.
