Thailand is an integrated ecosystems of 1. The Sea of Bengal (IW 53) 2. The Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea(IW 54) 3. The Mekong River (IW55)

25 River basins of Thailand Total basin area = 514, km 2 Nearly 20 basins draining into the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea

Priority Problems in South China Sea(SAP) 1.Habitat Change and Loss (Mangrove,Sea grass, Coral reefs and wetland 2. Over-exploitation of fisheries 3. Land-based Pollution 4. Lack of continuous financial support & inadequate regional cooperation

Hot spot Map depicting Land based Pollution Domestic Agriculture Industrial & mining Oil  Throughout the region, deforestation, wild fire & unsustainable agricultural practices in forested uplands substantially cause soil erosion and sediments into rivers,and hence the seas. (TDA/SAP )
