Sally’s Letter Sally is 14 and has been a part of the programme for three years. She writes to her Sponsor, “Dear Nancy, I am going to run away from home next week, once I have enough money saved up from my job to buy a bus ticket. There is no point in being here anymore – no one notices me anyway. I wish I knew where you lived so I could come there.”

Robert’s Letter Rob is a new Sponsor and has been writing to Imamu for one year. He writes, “Hello, Imamu. I see it is your birthday soon. That is very exciting. I would like to send you a gift. There are many things that I have in my house that I could give you, but I would rather buy you something new. What do young black boys like? I imagine you have many used toys to play with – would you like something new? Name anything, and I will send it.”

Rachel’s Letter Rachel is friendly, outgoing, and excited to be Sponsoring. This is her first letter. She writes: “Dear Birsha, I am excited to be writing to you! Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I live in Phoenix, Arizona in the United States. I love to play tennis, and I work for a company that builds houses. I am good at math. I also tutor children in math through a programme that my church runs. I go to Calvary Community Church. Pastor Mark is very excited about our church partnering with PFI to help support you and your family!”
