CHRIS MITCHELL CLASSROOM PROCEDURES PRESENTATION RIDER HIGH SCHOOL…

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES  Procedures are there to help us do our work well and to maintain a high standard in whatever we do.  Please follow the procedures and you will become a more successful student and citizen

ENTERING THE CLASSROOM  Please enter quietly  Have a seat  Take out your materials  Review the agenda board  Begin ‘DO NOW’ activity

 I will…  Stand in front of the class  Raise my hand  Wait for everyone to be quiet GETTING YOUR ATTENTION

WORKING TOGETHER IN GROUPS  For group work in the laboratory, there is a procedure, so each student is prepared to contribute equally to the group's work.  I determine the lab groups at the beginning of the year, but will change them from time to time, if necessary. Students decide which role they wish to complete for the first lab, and will then rotate through the jobs of Timer/Discipline monitor, Supply Gatherer, Recorder, and Reporter.  For group work in the classroom, students will work in groups of two, four or large group. All students will fulfill the role of Researcher for the group. Student will rotate the roles of Timer/Discipline monitor, Supply Gatherer, Recorder, and Reporter, depending upon the group activity.

 Work on unfinished Physics assignments  Review your notes or look up new vocabulary in textbook  You can only work on Physics WHAT TO DO IF YOU FINISH YOUR WORK EARLY

 If you are not prepared for class, you must fill out this slip, sign it, and date it.  Hand it to the student in charge.  This slip will be shared with the principal and your parent or guardian.  REMEMBER-they will see this documentation. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY CARD “PINK SLIP”

WHEN YOU ARE TARDY  Enter Quietly  Excused: Print name on tardy sheet and place written excuse" with sheet.

 Throwing things into the trash can during class is not acceptable behavior. Please walk to the trash can and dispose of your trash.  · There is no spitting at any time in our classroom. If something is in your mouth and needs to go into the garbage, remove it from your mouth, wrap it in paper, and follow the above procedure. TRASH CAN USE

 Should I need to ask you to please stop talking during class, do not reply with “I’m not talking.” This is both disrespectful and fails to show you can take responsibility for your own behavior.  If you need to say something when corrected, please be polite and simply say “yes Mr. Mitchell,” or just say ok. TALKING

 My desk, my computer, and other personal property are OFF LIMITS to students at all times TEACHERS’ DESK AREA, AND PROPERTY

 As your teacher I am responsible for you at all times.  Student will ask my permission to leave my room for any reason, including going to the faucet and bathroom. ACCOUNTABILITY

 I (the teacher) will dismiss you from class, not the bell or other student.  The bell is to indicate to the teacher that it is time to end class.  Students are to remain in their seats until I dismiss them from class. CLASS DISMISSAL
