Learning Other‘s Stories: Initiating & Building Relationships

Team Raymond

Everyone has a story. Not one is more noble, perfect, or grand... each one is simply unique… crafted by an all knowing God!

Jesus is our model!

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:3-4

Asking Questions Is a skill that can be DEVELOPED

…getting to know a fellow believer better. …sharing the gospel. Building Relationshi ps can be for the purpose of:

Build your conversation around conversational areas.

Do I… o Turn conversations back to myself sharing my personal experiences? o Ask follow up questions: What was that like for you? What do you think God is showing you? Tell me more about that. o Build a bridge and not a wall?

Do I… o Pass judgment on others? o Walk away remembering one thing I want to know more about in their story? o Ask God to help me be a blessing to others and reflect Him in my conversations?

What hinders me from asking questions & getting to know the stories of others?

Principle 1: Be an ACTIVE listener

o Look at the person o Give Visual approval o Give Verbal approval
