Celebrations were held in the following areas: Cape Town Free State Gauteng KwaZulu-Natal Mpumalanga Namibia Western Cape BMW Club Nigeria will celebrate later in September BMW Clubs in Africa celebrating 100 years of BMW! Centenary Celebrations2

Western Cape BMW Car Club Cape Town Centenary Celebrations3 The BMW Car Club Cape Town had a social bring and braai at Killarney’s clubhouse. Forty cars and their happy families attended. The day started off with a congregation at N1 City MacDonald’s, followed by a scenic drive through Durbanville Hills before arriving at Killarney. A few BMW’s did the track day event that Killarney was hosting.

Western Cape BMW Motorrad Club Cape Town Centenary Celebrations5 BMW Motorrad Club Cape Town celebrated the Club’s Centenary day by doing a breakfast run to Dixies Restaurant in Glencairn. This was the club’s inaugural ride in There were two start points being Donford Motorrad in Stellenbosch and Donford Motorrad in Cape Town. They had 55 bikes from Stellenbosch and 35 bikes from Cape Town. There were others that joined along the way to end with 120 bikes and 150 people for breakfast.

Western Cape BMW Motorrad Club Garden Route Centenary Celebrations7 In spite of the rainy weather the BMW motorcycles all along the Garden Route swamped the Knysna Heads and ensured that this event was a great success. More than 150 motorcycles gathered in the parking area. The Knysna Eastern Heads have never had so many motorcycles in the parking area or people at the lookout point in one visit - A record they hope will stand for a very long time to come.

Free State BMW Motorrad Club Inland Centenary Celebrations8 BMW Motorrad Club Inland arranged a birthday party in Bloemfontein. Members were requested to dress up with BMW logos displayed as much as possible. Rohan Makaum, the dealer principal, shared the vision for the next 100 years with an informative talk and some futuristic videos. Lucky draw prizes were handed out in the form of gifts received via BMW Clubs Africa, which were very well received. A large branded birthday cake was served as dessert after a great meal and everyone had a great time.

10 The five BMW Clubs in Gauteng got together at Red Star Raceway, one hour east of Johannesburg. With more than 50 cars as the coastline and 250 motorcycles, ‘Africa’ from above was indeed a spectacle. This static display of BMW cars and motorcycles in the shape of Africa was followed by a Centenary parade around the circuit where more than 400 BMW vehicles did the brand proud. KWAZULU-NATAL BMW Motorrad Club KwaZulu-Natal Sani Pass to the highest pub in Africa Centenary Celebrations12 The BMW Motorrad Club KZN celebrated the special day with a GS ride to the highest Pub in Africa, via the iconic Sani Pass and an overnight stay in the Backpackers, a true adventure-style celebration. Four inches of snow fell overnight. The trip will be remembered for the sheer beauty of the Lesotho Mountains; the challenging, yet rewarding ride; the true Adventure spirit and camaraderie, inspired by the legendary GS.

MPUMALANGA BMW Motorrad Club Lowveld with Sabie Valley Rider Academy Centenary Celebrations14 98 BMW motorcycles from Nelspruit, Hazyview and Lydenburg gathered in Sabie to enjoy the famous ‘Route 22’, a 22km stretch between Sabie and Hazyview. This road is ‘heaven’ for any motorcyclist. Buffs, specially made for the occasion was on offer. The riders departed individually to enjoy the twisties of Route 22. At the turn-around point all riders rode in formation to get beautiful videos and images from the drone above. Back at Sabie’s Woodsman Restaurant a Shawarma lunch concluded the celebrations.

Namibia BMW Motorrad Club Namibia Centenary Celebrations BMW’s got together in Windhoek from all centres around the country. In addition, 14 BMW motorcycles gathered in the town of Grootfontein to celebrate the same event. The oldest BMW was a 1968 R60/2 Model. The event started off with a procession through the main road of Windhoek followed by a 100km outride. The day was concluded at the clubhouse with riders and friends alike celebrating this special day. There was a celebration cake and the handing out of certificates to all participants.
