What is Green Building? Green building is a process that strives to create and renovate aspects of the built environment to make them more environmentally sustainable. What is a green building program? Green building programs have been created to promote, foster, and create incentives for green building in a particular area. The mechanism most widely employed is a set of voluntary standards that apply to differing building sectors.

We are not alone. NAHB has collected info on approximately 30 green building programs with residential standards operating throughout the US and under development.
