Hello, my name is Kronski Grigsby. I am a 37 year old African American female from Shreveport, Louisiana. I have a B.A. from Louisiana Tech University in Health and Physical Education. I work for the City of Shreveport as a Recreation Specialist in which I work with children everyday implementing and providing help with homework and various sports activities. I currently coach a 9 year old basketball team for my employer as well as three AAU Basketball Teams; ages 10, 13, and 16. Very challenging. I have never had the desire to coach or teach, although many people have told me that this was my calling. After my first coaching experience with my employer, I fell in love with it. It has tremendous rewards and I am able to give children something positive and constructive to do. Discipline, respect and structure are key components of my coaching/teaching style. Minden Crimson Tide- “Roll Tide Roll” I attended Minden High School in Minden, La. There I played basketball, ran track and cross country. Basketball is my ultimate favorite sport. But the sport that had a lasting personal experience and gratification on me was running track and cross country. I went to state in track three times in my high school running career. I always came in first or second place in both track and cross country. Keeping me in shape is a given but running was a huge stress reliever for me. Running also helps enhance my mental performance. When I run regularly I have found that I am able to think more clearly, analyze things more rationally and solve problems faster. And it is something that I am getting back into at age 37. My goal is to become a school teacher teaching PE or General Studies as well as coaching basketball and track for Middle School. By obtaining a master's degree I feel that it is important to my personal and professional life. An education of some sort is more important to my future success. It will show that I have a drive to learn and apply information, ideas, theories, and formulas to achieve a variety of tasks and goals My goal is to become a school teacher teaching PE or General Studies as well as coaching basketball and track for Middle School.
