Trip To Hawaii Rebecca Poland Block - 7

Travel My boyfriend and I took a private helicopter ride to the islands of Hawaii. It was our first time in a helicopter

Hotel We stayed in the nicest suite in the hotel. It had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a hot tube We made our stay for seven days, six nights.

Day One In the morning of our fist day we went dolphin watching and snorkeling It was a lot of fun, until a shark was mistaken as a dolphin and everyone had to evacuate. Everyone rushed onto the boat, but a few tourists we’re lost…

Day One Continued Later on that day, we went on a sunset dinner cruise. We were offered a variety of great food, but I went with macaroni and cheese. It was a night enhanced with a romantic setting, filled with relaxation.

Day Two In the morning we went sport fishing The ship we were on had an under deck galley and a big screen T.V. My boyfriend caught the biggest fish. Our captain said no one he has ever brought to sea has caught a fish of that size. Me on the other hand spent the morning pewking my guts out cause I got so sea sick. After everyone was done fishing, we went bellow deck and ate fish and chips.

Day Two Continued After we got back from deep sea fishing, we went to several attractions. We saw some local dancing and men twirling rods of fire.

Day Three On our third day in Hawaii, we took a backcountry zip line in Kauai. The zip line it self took an hour and a half. Afterwards we went and had a picnic lunch with the other people that went on the journey with us.

Day Three Continued After doing the zip line we were pretty tried, so we decided to relax the rest of the day. We found a private part on the beach and took a nap in a comfortable hammock.

Day Four We went to Oahu, and went on a four hour kayaking tour We got to see dolphins and sea turtles. We also spent time kayaking behind waterfalls.

Day Four Continued I was extremely sore after kayaking for four hours. So we went back to our hotel, and spent the rest of the day swimming in the pool and hot tubing. For dinner we stayed in and ordered room service and ordered movies.

Day Five We went to Honolulu, and spent two hours whale watching. The whales were huge and so beautiful. We were able to see a whole heard of them, which the guide said was rare.

Day Five Continued After whale watching we went on a five hour bike tour and hiking excursion. On our tour, we got to see tropical forests and priceless views.

Day Six On our sixth day in Hawaii, we went on a volcano tour. We saw seven different volcanoes. The ones that were dormant we were able to see up close. The active ones we saw from the air.

Day Six Continued We spent the rest of the day at the golf court. I didn’t play but my boyfriend did. The golf courses in Hawaii are really different from the ones in the states. They are well kept and have gorgeous gardens.

Day Seven On our last day in Hawaii we went to a luau called Island Breeze. We got to see a man blow fire, and the girls do their native dance. Afterwards we ate pineapple ice cream, and the we had to go pack for our flight.

Day Seven Continued After we checked out of our hotel, we went directly to the airport. It was a long flight home, with a lot of turbulence. Our trip to Hawaii was unforgettable.

Hawaiian Food Facts Their main sources of protein were fish, squid, limpet, crab and other seafood, chicken, and birds. The main leafy vegetables were taro tops (luau), and edible plants such as tree fern and fan palm. They ate bananas, coconuts, raspberries, strawberries, mountain apples and sugar cane. Seasonings came from kukui nut, seaweed, hoio fern and salt. They preserved food with salt and most foods were eaten fresh. They ate dogs and the alii (royalty) ate pig.

Hawaiian Culture Facts Today, probably the most enjoyable and unforgettable Hawaiian custom is the flower lei. Custom dictates that a lei should be offered graciously with a kiss and removed only in private. It's considered rude to remove a lei once it's accepted in view of anyone.

The Hawaiian Hula Another Hawaiian icon is the hula. It's an image of swaying hips, graceful hands and colorful costumes. The hula has evolved over the years from an activity exclusively for men and for religious purposes to today's contemporary dances, where both the men and women dance for fun.
