Presentation transcript:

The main materials of cleats are synthetic leather, kangaroo leather, and strong plastic. The synthetic or kangaroo leather is for the body of the cleat. the strong plastic of the shoe is for the “studs” or the traction part of the shoe.

The function of a soccer cleat is to give you stability on the field. The studs of the shoe are able to dig into the surface you are playing on to keep you from falling and to give you traction. The shoe is able to fit tightly and comfortably keep your foot compact in the shoe to give you the maximum amount control.

SYNTHETIC LEATHER: This is a type of material that can be compared to a waterproof material. Having a synthetic shoe is able to keep the inside of your shoe dry KANGAROO LEATHER: this material has the ability to stretch and form to your foot, keeping it really comfortable. This is a really expensive material but it is a also very convenient to have because it will last you a long time and will not wear out unless you really try to trash the shoes. STRONG PLASTIC: This plastic, on the sole of the shoe is for stability. They use solid pieces of plastic to make the studs, also called blades, for traction. The plastic is very durable and will last you for a very long time.

The first soccer cleat was made for King Henry the 8 th, in 1526, by his own personal shoe maker, Cornelius Johnson. His first pair of shoes was much heavier than most soccer cleats today. In 1990, an English player had an idea that would make soccer today much more advanced. He had put rubber fins onto the outside of the shoe, to grip the ball as your are about to kick it. This gives the ball spin in the air allowing the balls to bend or swerve in the air.

Many players will only look for the cleats with the brightest colors Some companies, such as Nike have made cleats with colors like bright pink or neon yellow. Adidas also makes very easy-to-see cleats. Many players will have photographers take pictures of them to be put in magazines for people to look at them wearing the bright shoes.

This is the stud or the blade of the cleat. This is made of a very strong, durable plastic. This is the outer part of the shoe. This is usually made of a synthetic, almost water proof material.

This is the bottom of the cleat. It is made of a strong plastic, like the studs. The whole bottom of the shoe is plastic because it helps with support. This outer part of the shoe is made of kangaroo leather. This material is very comfortable and will last for a long time.
