Geocaching to find Alabama’s 5 Geographic Regions N55° ' W4°19.915’ ( Highland Rim) N60° ' W4°19.917‘ (Piedmont Upland) N70° ' W4°19.917‘ (Alabama Valley and Ridge) N49° ' W4°19.915‘ (East Gulf Coastal Plain) N51° ' W4°19.919‘ (Cumberland Plateau)

Highland Rim The Highland Rim is the northernmost and the smallest geographic section in Alabama, occupying about 7 percent of the state. Elevations reach about 900 feet and drop to about 420 feet.

Piedmont Upland Occupies about 9% of Alabama The Piedmont Upland section is part of the Piedmont province of the Appalachian Highlands Region.

Cumberland Plateau The Cumberland Plateau stretches across eastern Tennessee from Alabama into Kentucky, the Cumberland Plateau rises more than 1,000 feet above the Tennessee River Valley. The Cumberland Plateau's rivers and streams hold some of the country's greatest variety of fish.

East Gulf Coastal Plain The East Gulf Coastal Plain is Alabama's largest physiographic section, taking up about 60 percent of the state. The Coastal Plain includes a wide variety of landscapes. It is flat and in some areas, but in other areas it has round and worn hills.

Appalachian Valley and Ridge The Appalachian Valley and Ridge is a physiographic area of the larger Appalachian division and is also a belt within the Appalachian Mountains extending from southeastern New York through northwestern New Jersey, westward into Pennsylvania and southward into Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.
