What is Logging and Replication? The basic idea of Logging is to safeguard data entered from catastrophic failure prior to backup. The basic idea of Replication is to provide multiple current copies of you data –Before delving deeper, these are some terms to know…

Definitions Logging –Records changes to safe place. Recovery –Replays the most recent logs on top of your backup in the event of a system failure. Replication –Using logs to make copies of the main database (2-5 sec delay) On-Line Replication –Updating secondary databases without using Log files. (1-2 sec. delay) –(TCP/IP) Posting –Applying Log files to database during Recovery and Replication.
