TSS Scoping Study Results AoH Meeting – Tempe, AZ November 16/17, 2005

Technical Support System (TSS) Project Goals Provide a single web-based location for: –Access and display of technical data –Display of analytical results –The reference location for related documentation to support the regional haze implementation plans Provide analysis tools to: –Directly support AoH Phase 2 analyses –Synthesize technical and contextual data and GIS layers –Conduct analyses, and store results for subregional, local, and Class I area-specific regional haze planning Provide technical support documentation for WRAP regional haze implementation plans

Scoping Study Goals The scoping study was conducted to benefit the TSS team members – not to develop a prototype website or data product mockups Our scoping study goals were to: –Understand, evaluate, and prioritize major system requirements – feasibility, time, budget –Identify and evaluate possible architectural, design, and implementation options –Identify primary hardware, software, and functional components –Identify essential development tasks –Recommend TSS team member roles

Most Relevant Results Overriding goal is to deliver SIP-relevant data products by Oct CIRA will host the TSS web site CIRA will lead TSS development, expanding on their design concepts for VIEWS and their existing “know how” for data displays ARS will support design of data tools and products CIRA will house the monitoring, modeling, and attribution databases ENVIRON will host and maintain a website (with high quality GIS displays) containing all emissions data for the TSS Image Matters will work with CIRA to provide Map Web Server (WMS) and Map Tool development support for two parallel tasks: –Support map displays for SIP-relevant products –Support retrieval of data and products from outside of the TSS (possible candidates include FASTNET, EPA NEI, etc.) TSS team recognizes the need for training and support

Revised SIP outline developed at August meeting Items in red are directly supportable by TSS Each of these items exists from AoH Phase 1 or will be developed for the TSS IWG SIP Outline

Other Results Specific findings and recommendations of the TSS team are presented in the draft document posted on the WRAP web page: “TSS Scoping Study: Summary of Results”

Next Steps Move forward on TSS development Present AoH with a set of product mock-ups in December Deliver a beta version of the TSS for AoH review at the January 2006 meeting
