Ardent – adj. In spite of Miriam’s ardent praise of Walter, I was not convinced of his ability. Predict the meaning of the word. Definition: intensely eager; passionate feeling

Assail - verb Critics assailed the book when it first appeared but the reading public loved it. Predict the definition of the word. Definition: attack violently or verbally, trouble in the mind

Asset - noun The late Mr. Kim’s assets include a valuable stamp collection. Predict the meaning of the word. Definition: something owned of value that can be sold, quality used to advantage.

Barter - verb The Pilgrims bartered with the Native American for the things they needed. Predict the definition of the word. Definition: exchanged goods or services without the use of money
