GEOGRAPHY OF THE NILE  The Nile is the world’s longest river

CATARACTS  Cataracts : shallow lengths of water where the surface is broken by many small boulders and stones protruding out of the river bed.

STATIONS ACTIVITY!  1. Laptops : Research the answer to the question, “How did the people of Ancient Egypt and Nubia benefit from the geography of the region?” (If tech. difficulties, use textbook)  2. Book Scavenger Hunt : Use your textbook to find the answers to the questions in your packet.  3. Map : Use a map of Ancient Egypt and Nubia to answer the questions in your packet.  4. Analyzing images : Look at a primary source painting and answer the question in your packet.  5. Vocabulary : Look at the vocabulary terms listed and create sentences using the key terms – (cataract, delta, silt)  6. Reading Analysis : Read, “Egypt: The Gift of the Nile” and answer the questions in your packet.

EXIT TICKET  Think about what you have learned today about the Nile River.  On your, “Exit Ticket” sheet – answer the essential question, “What is the relationship between the geographic factors and the way of life in the Nile River Civilizations (Egypt/Nubia)?”
