Sentence Structure Review for Halloween idea source:

The last man on earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock at the door.

I walked to the curb wondering what idiot drives his ice cream truck down the street at three in the morning with the music blaring. Just as I noticed there was nobody behind the wheel of the parked vehicle, I heard my front door slam shut, and my children begin to scream.

I begin tucking him into bed, and he tells me, “Daddy check for monsters under my bed.” I look underneath for his amusement and see him, another him, under the bed, staring back at me quivering and whispering, “Daddy there’s somebody on my bed.”

As I awoke to footsteps on the creaky stairs, I asked, "Who's there?" "Nobody," said the shadow standing under the hallway light.

After stumbling into the abandoned shack and nearly dead from thirst, we drank heavily from the jug we found inside. That's when I noticed her, blood draining from her face, point to where the water had been, and I saw an empty bottle of rat poison on its side.

Work with one other person to write at least 10 examples of school appropriate 2 sentence horror stories. Make sure that you are not writing run-ons. Think about Brushstrokes! With another pair, decide which is the best story that both pairs wrote. Use markers and neatly write your selected story on a piece of construction paper. Put your names and period on the BACK of the paper. We will hang these in the hall, and next week, I will have students vote on which one they feel is the best. DIRECTIONS
