Laurel Hill ES Annual Appeal The Annual Appeal is the primary fall fundraiser for Laurel Hill ES General PTA funds. It is held for 2 weeks in the fall and we hope to raise the majority of our operating budget through this direct appeal event. How it works: Every student receives an yellow response card Return response cards between October 3 rd -October 17th. Goal is 100% of the cards returned, whether or not you donate Donations can be paid online (recommended) or by check. Contributions are 100% tax deductible, and can be corporate-matched. Have more questions? Read the Annual Appeal FAQ Read the Annual Appeal FAQ Q. My company would like to match my gift. What do I need to do? A. Your company will most likely need some tax information. Please contact our treasurer at Q. Where are my Annual Appeal donation dollars going? A. Your LHES PTA General Funds support a wide variety of activities, events, and enrichment at LHES. It pays for cultural arts programs, field trip transportation, teacher and staff education and appreciation, and many other valuable programs. Q. Am I required to donate $50 per child? A. ABSOLUTELY NOT. Donations are purely voluntary, but we hope that you will consider donating so that we can continue to provide high-quality activities within LHES. The PTA will spend over $50 on each child this year, and meeting our monetary goal with this event will mean we do not have to spend valuable time on other product sales this year and instead focus on learning and having fun. This money will ensure that quality instruction and enrichment opportunities will continue throughout this school year. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DONATE AS MUCH OR AS LITTLE AS YOU’D LIKE. Q. Can I write a check? A.You can! Just clip it to the yellow response card and send it back in your child’s folder. Or drop it off in the main office.

Q. Why can’t I put my credit card number on the response card? A. To ensure the safety of your credit card information, we prefer credit card information is entered directly onto our online site, which is a secure method for processing credit cards. If you would like to donate by credit card but do not have access to the internet, Please call Patty Potts at - - to process your card over the phone. Q. How secure is the information I provide? A. Donations online are processed using a secure server. Any gifts given to the Annual Appeal -- will be handled by the LHES PTA treasurer with oversight from the PTA President. All financial information is kept strictly confidential and logged only for tax letter purposes. If you have any questions or concerns about your gift, please contact the PTA treasurer directly. For any other questions, please contact Patty Potts at Q. Is this Laurel Hill PTA’s only fundraiser? A.No. The PTA is hoping to raise the vast majority of the General PTA budget through the Annual Appeal. Any remaining funds necessary to complete this budget will be raised in the spring at the Read-A-thon, and at Basket Bingo, a festive, social event. The Annual Appeal will eliminate the numerous smaller fundraisers that most schools rely on throughout the year. Q. I joined the PTA- don’t my dues cover all of this? A. No. PTA dues only cover basic operating expenses of the PTA- National and State dues, printing, insurance, etc. They do not cover any of the things that really make our school outstanding. However, your PTA dues give you a vote in how money is spent and activities are planned, and come with special discounts to places like Great Wolf Lodge and Colonial Williamsburg. Q. What is the “Rockin’ Responders’ Recess”? A. This is an extra recess your student can earn if he or she is part of the grade level that has turned in the highest percentage of yellow response cards at the end of the Annual Appeal campaign (Oct. 17th). That’s why the PTA wants you to turn in your yellow response card whether you donate or not. The winning grade level is chosen based upon percentage of cards returned - not money raised.
