VIRTUAL MUSEUM OF NATIVE AMERICAN WOMEN DAILY LIFE FAMOUS WOMEN MATRILINEAL TRIBES CREATION MYTHS CURATOR INFORMATION Name of Museum Back to Room 2 The United Kingdom’s government is a constitutional monarchy. In a constitutional monarchy, there are elected representatives, called parliament, and a king or a queen. The king or queen has no real power, they are more of a symbol of the country. He or she is called the monarch. Parliament has the power and controls the government. They create laws, or “Acts of Parliament”, and the king or queen announces them. They are voted for by the citizens of the country. The United Kingdom is one example of a constitutional monarchy.

This period was from 6000 BC- 800 AD. There probably weren’t many people, and the people that were there were not modern at all. There were some events going on, though. In 4500 BC the first farming techniques were learned in what is now the United Kingdom. Also in 4500 BC the first pottery was created, stone tools are made, and shelters are created and are being created more stable. In 3300 BC to 1200 BC the first stone circles, such as the well- known Stonehenge were built. In 2300 BC “Amesbury Archer” dies near a stone circle. In 1800 BC, the first copper mines are dug.
