A Strategic Framework guides our work 3

Imagining the future A new strategic plan is in development to guide us into the near future, A Young Professional Advisory Committee (YPAC) was established to serve as the voice of the future member. - young MRTs (MRT students and MRTs within their first 10 years of practice). 4

Imagining the future Our vision for the future has sharpened in the past year, thanks to several initiatives we’ve implemented to propel us forward. Future Technologies Advisory Council bringing industry leaders and members involved in technology innovation together to keep CAMRT and its partner organizations abreast of technological changes. Building on the 2013 Symposium on the Future of Education, a framework that anticipates a world of multidisciplinary knowledge and practice is emerging. 5

Advanced Practice The CAMRT Advanced Practice Framework, that defines advanced practice in the context of the medical radiation technology profession, published in March. The Framework provides a common language and a conceptual frame to advance discussions at the institutional, educational and/or governmental levels. With the framework as a foundation, work is ongoing on the development of a process for advanced practice certification for radiation therapists on a pilot basis, to be introduced in

Entry to practice and CPD New competency profiles approved by the Canadian Medical Association Conjoint Accreditation Services. Delivered meaningful continuing professional development to over 3800 registrants, in Canada and abroad. New courses in 2014 :Pharmacology in Cancer Care (full length) ;Application of Medical Laboratory Tests in Nuclear Medicine-Renal System, and Gynecological Cancers ( Quick Self Studies). 8

Practice support Conducted the first annual CAMRT Human Resources survey. New online module on How to Write a Competency Based Exam. Description of Practice to be released in Spring Ongoing refinements to the Best Practice Guidelines. 9

Annual General Conference – 11 Montreal, May 28-30, 2015 An unprecedented educational event that boasts over 185 education sessions spanning all disciplines The conference hosts: The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), The Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Ordre des technologues en imagerie médicale et en radio ‐ oncologie et en électrophysiologie médicale du Québec (OTIMROEPMQ) and Société canadienne ‐ française de radiologie (SCFR).

Leadership Development 5 th Annual LDI September applicants - 17 participants “a journey to remember which provided me with tools, competence, capability, and confidence to stay on my game and strive towards excellence ” Leadership Development Institute engaging younger CAMRT members who have demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to the advancement of the medical imaging or radiation therapy professions at an early stage in their careers. New Leaders Program Designed for MRTs who have taken on leadership roles or are looking towards entering leadership roles within the MRT clinical setting; the overall goal is to provide new leaders and aspiring leaders with valuable skills and resources to assist them in their daily work. A framework for collaboration Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CAMRT, the Alliance of Medical Radiation Technologists AMRTRC) and participating provincial organizations 15

Increased presence and influence internationally Four Canadian MRTs now have major leadership roles with the ISRRT: Terry Ell, RTNM,FCAMRT (Board member) Alain Cromp, RTR, (Board member) Dr. Robin Hesler, RTR (Regional Coordinator Americas for Education) Marcia Smoke, RTT, ACT (CAMRT Council Member) 16

Taking a Stand 17

Advocacy on Isotope Supply CAMRT continues to provide leadership on Canadian and international efforts to raise awareness on and mitigate the potential for a medical isotope shortage in the near future: – Created a webpage on new developments & promote sharing of information on supply challenges and solutions. – Instrumental in the successful lobby of the Canadian government, who recently announced its decision to extend the Chalk River NRU license until – Active member of Health Canada’s working group on this critical issue. 18

Speaking up on healthcare innovation Contributed written briefs to a study of the federal role in healthcare on scopes of practice that is being carried out by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health, and to the recently established Advisory Panel on Healthcare Innovation created by Health Minister Ambrose. Supported the Health Action Lobby (HEAL), in the release of a position paper representing its 43 member organizations’ concerns about the diminished federal role in healthcare. 19

Enhanced Member Services and Engagement 20

Connecting with members Presented a CAMRT “roadshow “in numerous hospitals and other sites. Surveys and focus groups engaged members in consultations on the new logo, on how to remodel the AGC, and on how they imagine the future of CAMRT. A new Director of Member Services, Karen Morrison, is leading initiatives that give greater insight into your needs and the services that match them. 21

What’s new Enhanced online tools and access: Online certification examination pilot in The first of many interactive online course CT2 launched in March The new CAMRT.ca with a fresh new look based on our new logo, great new content and an improved search feature that will help you get the information you need quickly. A webinar series will bring members together online to learn and share information. 22
