IN YOUR OPINION: What IS technology? It is the making and using, of tools, machines, techniques, and systems in order to solve a problem for human existence.

What’s a Technical Object? A man-made object that serves a purpose.

Your Pencils Is it a technical object? Why or Why not? What are the materials it is made of? How are materials decided for certain technical objects?

Different materials react differently to different external forces. We a design plan.

The Design Process Design Technology Intro Design Technology Intro

In industry, the process of the making available for consumers is called the “Design Process”; and it consists of 3 parts. 1. Design 1. Design – Creating and testing a prototype product to meet a specific need. 2. Production 2. Production – Developing a process to convert raw materials into the product. 3. Marketing 3. Marketing – Advertising, selling, and subsequently maintaining and disposing of, or recycling, the product.

In Sec. 2, We Only Focus on Design Steps for proper design: 1.Identify a Need: - What is the product supposed to do? - What task will it perform? - How will it make our lives easier? Design Development Video Design Development Video

2. Specifications: -Physical = Elements design is to withstand? (Wind, rain, dirt, temperature) -Technical = What will the product do? (how fast, how strong, need E?) -Economical = Cost of producing the product? Pollution? Maintenance?

-Industrial = Where will it be built? Which tools? Who will build it? Training needed? -Human = Who will buy the product? What will it look like? Feel, Run or Sound like? -Environmental = Is it safe for the environ during production or using it?
