Stakeholders:
Scenario Each group will be assigned one of the 3 stakeholder groups: Citizens of the growing suburb Citizens of the old city Citizens of the area within the proposed freeway corridor The objective is to take a position (pro or con) towards the proposed project and then to identify geographic data might you use to support your position

Tasks 3 & 4 Having heard other reasons, identify specific geographic data that are likely to support your position and/or undermine the positions of those with opposing viewpoints Be prepared to defend your choices by thinking carefully about what data exist or how they might be obtained, and shortcomings associated with the data (e.g., error or uncertainty)
Geographic information can include Legal(cadastral; zoning laws) Political(county lines; school districts) Cultural(language; ethnicity; religion) Climatic(temperature; precipitation) Topographic(elevation; slope angle; slope aspect) Biotic(biodiversity; species ranges) Medical(disease; birth rate, life expectancy) Economic(median income; resource wealth) Infrastructure(roads; water; telecommunications) Social(education; neighborhood influences) Might Be Useful For Today: Satellite Imagery (can be used to derive landuse & landcover maps) Cadastral (land ownership) information Existing infrastructure (bridges, water & sewer systems) Demographic information Zoning laws & maps Climate data (varies in scale) Hydrograph, Soils, & Geology Field data (can be almost anything) GPS data (turns field data into geographic data) Geographic information can are: Any data associated with specific spatial locations
