Introduction to Electronics Part 1 Stewart Watkiss

Objectives ● At the end of this training session you will be able to: – Understand the Importance of Electronics in Daily Life – Understand the basics of an electronic circuit – Build a Prototype Electronic Circuit ● If used together with soldering techniques: – Be able to build a buzzer circuit for use as a morse code trainer, or as a quiz buzzer

Circuit on Plug-board

Summary ● Any circuit MUST make a complete closed loop – current flow ● A switch works by breaking the closed loop ● Plug-Boards are a useful way of creating a circuit without committing to it. ● By soldering the wires together the circuit could be made into a real buzzer for use with kids etc.

Next Sessions ● Beginner Soldering Techniques – Learn how to make the circuit into a complete system ● Introduction to Electronics part 2 – Learn about some of the other components to make more complex circuits ● See notice board for dates and to put your name down.
