Take Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test on October 19 th (PSAT/NMSQT) Meet with college reps as they visit DPHS. Attend college night at VCC Determine whether your high school courses are meeting college admission requirements. Review your transcripts! Discuss future plans with parents/guardians, including financial needs, estimated costs, etc. Contact colleges and look for resources in the College/Career Center and check websites. Do college searches. Start early so you are ready senior year. Schedule individual and/or parent conference with your counselor to discuss future goals.
Investigate potential summer experiences, including work, summer school, special workshops and college- bound programs. Register for and take ACT/SAT Semester 2. Begin your scholarship search. Do volunteer service hours. Select appropriate senior year courses to meet college requirements. This is VERY important. Colleges look at the strength of your senior schedule! During spring break and/or summer, visit colleges and technical schools. Have a plan in place before you begin your senior year!

Obtain Community Service Forms from Guidance Select a community service organization that’s right for you Create a plan that includes a brief written description of the service you will provide for the organization Have the plan approved by your counselor Provide the service, log and tally the hours Get the necessary signatures (parent, supervisor, and your own) Write a post-reflection about the service you provided Hour log and documentation must be submitted to your school counselor to receive credit on transcript
