My Excursion To The Sea Life Aquarium BY RYAN

 Today my class (1/2CP) went to the Melbourne Sea Life Aquarium. It was an amazing experience.  First up we went to the Reptile and Amphibian habitats. We saw lots of different reptiles like a Crocodile, a few lizards, some frogs, a green tree python and lots more other creatures.  Next we went to the seahorse pier. There weren’t just seahorses but lots of different types of creatures like sea dragons, cuttlefish, octopus, and puffer fish. I think the sea dragons were the best.  After that, we saw the penguins. There are many different types of Penguins, for example King Penguin, Emperor Penguin, Gentoo Penguins etc. They are all very fast swimmers. But they pooed a lot.

 My favourite creature was a Crocodile named Pinjarra.  Pinjarra was a huge powerful crocodile! Pinjarra fast facts:  NAME: Pinjarra is an aboriginal word meaning ‘place of soft grass and smooth water’  SEX: Male  SIZE: Measures over 5 metres  WEIGHT: Approximately 750kg  AGE: Around 50 years-old

What I learnt:  Melbourne Sea Life Aquarium is home to 10,000 animals including one of the largest Saltwater crocodile in the world.  Starfish have no brain. Starfish has senses and eyes on their tentacles.  Cuttlefish can change colour faster than the blink of an eye.  Male Penguins stand like statues with their head held high to attract female Penguins.  Gentoo penguins are also the fastest underwater swimming bird in the world.  Thousands of marine birds, mammals, reptiles and fish are killed or injured each year due to entanglements in poorly discarded fishing line and other plastic waste.
