Jordahl Open House Kindergarten

It is extremely important for you to check your child’s binder. To help you remember, we ask that you initial the calendar every day so that we know you have seen it. Please empty the binder every night. New work will come home each day. Bee Binders Bring Everything Every Day

Morning Work/Announcements: 7:30-7:45 Math Whole Group/Calendar: 7:45-8:35 Math Centers/Small Group: 8:35-9:15 Reading Whole Group: 9:15-10:15 Snack and Recess: 10:15-10:45 Literacy Groups/ Centers: 10:45-12:15 Lunch/Lunch Recess: 12:15-12:55 Related Arts (PE, Music, Art, Library): 12:55-1:45 Science 1:45-2:00 Pack up/ Story 2:00-2:25

Your child will also be receiving KEYS. Theses are little blue keys that they are able to enter into drawings to win certain things. I have my keys set up in the back of the room. They will bring a paper saying what they won. This DOES NOT require purchasing anything. I will have the supplies for them.

HOMEWORK After doing some research over the summer I have decided that I am NOT going to assign homework sheets. The only thing that I would like your student to work on at home is their sight words. (They come home laminated in their binder) I would like them to practice them every other night, or until they have mastered them. This should be no longer then 5 minutes. Then please enjoy your night with your child, go play outside, cook dinner, read them a story and just enjoy family time! There will be incentives sent home such as Book IT Calendars from Pizza Hut. If you read a certain amount of days your child gets a free pizza coupon. Homework

You may drop your child off no earlier than 7:10 at the front door. Please know that the kindergarten teachers are rotating duty so you may not always see them at the library in the morning. If you need to communicate something please do so in their bee binder, or phone call. The doors will lock at 7:25. If you come later than that, please go to the front and sign your child in. Please let me know if:  you will be picking up your child early.  pick up person is different then who you initially listed.

Snack: Please make sure your child's snack is in a separate container other than their lunch box. Also please label your child’s snack with their name. Special occasion treats must be store bought. Birthday treats need to be mini cupcakes or cookies and should be sent in first thing in the morning. Allergy: We do have a peanut allergy within the grade level. Due to the fact that they all eat snack outside please do not send a peanut snack.
