Strengths  Variety/Quality of parks and programs  Youth program (E.g. youth sports)  Family programming (E.g. concert series, movie nights, special events, Farmer’s Market etc.)  Park maintenance and facility quality is excellent  Responsive staff and good community partners  Senior Programs / Bus Trips are very popular  Additions at Pine Trails Park are excellent  City is very ADA friendly (E.g. step stools etc.)  Strategic Planning undertaken by the City  Library and its programming

Population Trend

Age Segment Distribution  group increasing rapidly over next 10 years combined with increase in 70+ age groups  Sharp decline in and <18 segments

Population by Race  Parkland expects to continue on a diversifying trend in the coming years  Hispanic / Latino population represented as an Ethnic Group, not race  Projected to grow from 12.9% in 2010 to 23% by 2025

Comparative Income Characteristics  Income characteristics for Parkland are more than twice the state and national levels

Levels of Service

 Based on existing inventory of offerings  Recommended LOS determined by community input, future demographics, regional and national trends  Projects future needs based on population growth and new offerings

Equity Maps

Recommendations

 Neighborhood Parks(Add in Deficit with Recommendations): With improvements e.g. at Camp Telogia and add 5 acres of vacant land available  Community Park: Cover acreage deficit through Vacant Land (38 acres + 12 acre parcels)  Picnic Shelters: Add a shelter at Camp Telogia / Margate site west of Pine Trails Park could be an option as well  Multi-purpose Fields – Add (2) multipurpose fields within 5 years e.g. Terramar Park  Basketball Courts – Build (2) additional courts within 5 years e.g. Terramar Park  Library Expansion of 6000+sf and program for senior / active adult programming Recommendations

 Consider adding up to 4 Pickleball courts or repurposing a tennis court for joint pickle ball use  Update Vacant Land Plan / Park Master Plan every 5 years  Integrate with the PIO’s Resident Communications Plan and Business Plan for the P-REC  Identify core programs, target audiences, potential partners, pricing structure etc.  Conduct a feasibility study for an Indoor Fieldhouse for year round sports and recreation activities Recommendations

 Annually evaluate program offerings to ensure alignment with community need  Create a 501 c(3) entity i.e. Parks Foundation or a Friends of the Park Group to support Parks and Recreation similar to Friends of the Library  Continue to update fees and charges based on the cost of providing a service Recommendations
