Year 2 Welcome Meeting Wednesday 14 th September 2016

Welcome to Year 2! Thank you for coming!

Start/end of the day procedures  Start at 8:45am  Children come straight into the classroom via Y1/2 door – Y3 door Diamond  Bikes/ scooters are not to be ridden in the playground  Parents/carers can leave brief notes with the staff at the door. If a longer discussion is required this is to be organised for after school/ early morning.  Work is set at tables for 8:45am. If they are absent or late, they will have missed a part of their day’s learning.  Each week, the class that has the highest percentage in attendance and punctuality is rewarded in assemblies with a class trophy and extra playtime. Please help your child’s class win!  End at 3.00pm  Children will be delivered to parents/carers from the class door leading onto the playground. Diamond from Y3 entrance/exit  If parents/carers are later than 3.10pm children will be taken to the late room and this will be logged.

Curriculum Forecast - Sent home at the beginning of each half term - Informs you of the objectives that the children will be learning in all subjects - Includes upcoming information about trips and special days

Homework All homework is handed out on Monday to be returned the following Monday at the very latest. You will receive; Spellings Reading Comprehension Maths Creative  each half term the children will be given a topic to research/produce a project for.

Homework  There will be a free homework club on Monday after school from 3:00 – 4:00  Please work with your child and you may want to write a comment on it to let us know how they found it. If it was too hard, then we can address that at school.

PE days Classes in our year group will have PE on: Crystal: Tuesday Diamond: Wednesday Topaz: Thursday Top PE Kits - White P.E T-Shirt - Blue or black P.E Shorts or jogging bottoms - Black Plimsolls - PE Bag Long hair must be tied back (please put a hair band in your child’s PE bag if they have long hair.) No earrings to be worn on PE days. Children should only wear studs, not hoops please. PLEASE LABEL YOUR CHILD’S CLOTHES

Children must arrive to school in full uniform. Royal Blue sweatshirt and/or fleece with Valence Owl logo Grey trousers/skirts or pinafore dresses Blue gingham dresses for summer White polo top or shirt Black footwear only, no colour trim Grey, white or black socks and tights Hair bands in uniform colour No big, sparkly hair clips Book bags, P.E. bags and hats are also available in school colours. No jewellery (apart from stud earrings) or make up to be worn by pupils. School Uniform

Behaviour: Sanctions Blue- Shouting / calling out during teaching time.  Getting out of your seat. Yellow- Not following instructions.  Taking or damaging other people’s property. Red- Intimidating behaviour.  Bullying.  Fighting. Child will be sent to a member of Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
