Submitting data via ODK Collect This section will go along with hands-on activities. Please pay attention to the instructions and follow them step by step. Whenever you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask your instructor.
STEP 1: INSTALL ODK COLLECT Open Google Play Store Search for ODK Collect Tap Install
STEP 2: OPEN ODK COLLECT Example of a shortcut on the home screen Open ODK Collect by selecting its icon
STEP 3: CONNECT TO ELMO Open settings as shown (tap the bar of 3 tiny squares) Select General Settings
STEP 3: CONNECT TO ELMO Enter the server name into the box that says URL Enter the URL: This URL, username, and password are provided to you by your ELMO administrator
STEP 3: CONNECT TO ELMO Enter your username
STEP 3: CONNECT TO ELMO Enter your password Now you are connected to ELMO! Return to the ODK Homescreen
STEP 4: DOWNLOAD SAMPLE FORM To download any of the forms available to you for filling out, select Get Blank Form

STEP 5: FILL OUT THE SAMPLE FORM Start filling out the form! Raise your hand if you need any help
STEP 6: SAVE (AND FINALIZE) THE FORM At the end of the form you can Review all questions and answers Save the form
STEP 6: SAVE (AND FINALIZE) THE FORM Review questions and answers by selecting the arrow and point button at the top of the screen.
STEP 6: SAVE (AND FINALIZE) THE FORM If you are working on the form over a stretch of time, simply select Save Form and Exit without checking the box next to Mark form as finalized. This will allow you to edit your answers later. If it is ready to be submitted, you can click the box.

STEP 7: SEND FINALIZED FORM To submit your answers, tap Send Finalized Form Answers can always be edited before submission by selecting Edit Saved Form Edited forms can be deleted by selecting Delete Saved Form
STEP 7: SEND FINALIZED FORM Mark the checkbox next to SAMPLE Opening Checklist Tap Send Selected to submit your answers
OVERRIDE CODE Many forms contain required questions Sometimes, due to unforeseen events, we want forms even if the observers have no opportunity to answer required questions. This can be done with coordinator approval. The coordinator would then provide a special override code. Observers are then prompted to submit the override code at the end of the incomplete form. Let’s try this out!

OVERRIDE CODE Use button at the top of the screen Then select Go to End
USING THE OVERRIDE CODE At the end of the form, observers will be asked Is this form missing any required answers? If the observer selects Yes, he or she will be prompted to enter the override code
OVERRIDE CODE The override code is an alphanumeric code that will usually be all lowercase The override is case sensitive, so it is important that the code entered matches the correct case Enter the override code sb6piy sb6piy
OVERRIDE CODE Select Save Form and Exit Go back to home screen and Send Finalized Form
