OVERVIEW  Important progress made in all components of the TDF II  EIF Tier I: Extension approved  EIF Tier II: Quality Infrastructure and Industrial Statistics launched  JSDF: Exploring options to restructure the project  Good progress in formulating new TRTA projects

TRADE FACILITATION AND NON TARIFF MEASURES – KEY ACTIVITIES  Regular updating and dissemination of the LTP Information sharing mechanism agreed Maintenance contract for the LTP in place Dissemination workshops  Regular meetings of the TF Secretariat  Trade Facilitation National Self-Assessment of Needs and Priorities  NTM Review Working Group Established  NTM Work program and methodology adopted  Preparation for Survey of NTMs faced by Lao Exporters

TRADE FACILITATION AND NON TARIFF MEASURES – PLAN  Launch of the Management Training Programs in Trade Facilitation  Strengthen operations of the TF Secretariat  Conduct technical workshops on NTMs for focal points  Develop catalogue of existing NTMS  Commence assessment of NTMs faced Lao exporters  Organize regular dissemination and consultation workshops

KEY ACTIVITIES Services of the BAF officially launched in Dec o Three regional workshops organized o Working contacts with BMOs and business support agencies established Initial private sector response is positive o Grant agreements signed with 14 individual companies and 1 BMO o More than 20 companies on the pipeline Demand for BAF grant support is strong PLAN Increase outreach Provide 1) direct consulting services; 2) support to proposal development; and 3) establish impact evaluation system BUSINESS ASSISTANCE FACILITY (BAF) KEY ACTIVITIES AND PLAN

Regular PEC and TPSWG Meetings The following TRTA projects finalized: o GIZ RELATED; o LUNA II, o Support to WTO Activities (by IDEAS CENTER) o EIF Tier I Phase II (AfT coordination and trade mainstreaming) o EIF Tier II (Quality Infrastructure and Industrial Statistics) SSPP (JSDF): being restructure New project formulation o Phase II of the SECO funded Trade Cluster Project o WB funded Access to Finance for SMEs Training in project management organized Regular program implementation support (both technical and fiduciary) provided NIU AND TPS WG KEY ACTIVITIES

Conduct 01 PEC and 01 TPSWG Meeting Coordinate development of the first work plans for the following TRTA projects: o GIZ RELATED; o LUNA II, o Support to WTO Activities (by IDEAS CENTER) o SSPP (JSDF) o EIF Tier II o Commence implementation of the Quality Infrastructure component and finalize TA to Industrial Statistics with UNIDO New project formulation o Phase II of the SECO funded Trade Cluster Project o WB funded Access to Finance for SMEs o Second Tier II project Training in project management and program implementation support NIU AND TPS WG PLAN
