Snare Drum  Just show you what a Snare drum could do watch this clip.  Ladies and gentlemen please welcome the Snare Drum

 Most modern snare drums are made from maple, birch, brass or steel, but materials such as aluminium, oak, bamboo, carbon fibre are used as well  Snare drum heads, or skins, were originally made from calfskin, but plastic is now more common.

The Snare Drum is from Medieval Times,(before my grandma was born). Rhythms were used for hundreds of years to give orders to troops, and to keep their marching and manoeuvres in time.

Snare drum's main use in popular music is to emphasize the backbeat: the second and fourth beats of a 4/4 bar. The backbeat made its way from African drumming through early Gospel to rhythm and blues, rock and roll and other styles; it can be heard in most popular music.

Thank you for your time

Feedback  Some good information has been included here and a nice YouTube clip to show the snare drum in use.  What about its use in the orchestra?  B – Mr O’Sullivan
