Drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance. The term comes from a Greek word meaning "action" which is derived from "to do" The enactment of drama in theatre, performed by actors on a stage before an audience, presupposes collaborative modes of production and a collective form of reception. The structure of dramatic texts, unlike other forms of literature, is directly influenced by this collaborative production and collective reception. The two masks associated with drama represent the traditional generic division between comedy and tragedy. In our school we don’t think of drama in the Greek way and what it means, instead, we improvise scenes and work together in groups to produce the best scene. We also learn techniques to think quick and answer questions that are fired at us fairly quickly. Home

Theatre (or theater, as spelt by the Americans) is the branch of the performing arts defined by Bernard Beckerman as what "occurs when one or more persons, isolated in time and/or space, present themselves to another or others." By this broad definition, theatre has existed since the dawn of man, as a result of human tendency for story telling. Since its inception, theatre has come to take on many forms, often utilizing elements such as speech, gesture, music, dance, and spectacle, combining the other performing arts, often as well as the visual arts, into a single artistic form. To us, this is in the form of ‘work’ for us, and we are paid into a special account to be accessed when we are older. Home

At the school we are attending (Sylvia Young Theatre School) the agency comes with it. Our agency is called ‘Young un’s’ and this is the thing that gets us professional work. The agency is based in the school and if we have an audition or casting (which is like the first round to get a job) they will highlight our name and we will go into the agency and find out what they need us for. Afterwards when we know what the job is or audition we follow the instructions we’re given. So everything runs smoothly. Home

A Drama School is a higher education college which specializes in the vocational teaching of drama (i.e. acting, musical theatre and technical theatre). Students at such a college are normally awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) at the end of their studies. In the UK The Conference of Drama Schools comprises Britain’s 22 leading Drama Schools. CDS exists in order to strengthen the voice of the member schools, to set and maintain the highest standards of training within the vocational drama sector, and to make it easier for prospective students to understand the range of courses on offer and the application process. Founded in 1969, the 22 member schools offer courses in Acting, Musical Theatre, Directing and Technical Theatre training. Graduates of CDS courses are currently working on stage, in front of the camera and behind the scenes in theatres and studios across Britain. Home

The words Fame or Famous are used in many contexts, most of them inspired by the concept of celebrity. Fame may refer to: Film, television stage Music Computing and technology That is what some people aim for. They want to be the best they can be and they also want people to know it. Some just want to be successful in what they do. That is what most people aim for. Home

It has to be said, fortune is something everybody wants! To get anything in life now. The main thing you need is money, and it does benefit a lot of people. We’re lucky because the business we’re involved in does generate a lot of it if you manage to hit the big time. Though it can cause some problems including bankruptcy. Home

Education encompasses both the teaching and learning of knowledge, proper conduct, and technical competency. It thus focuses on the cultivation of skills, trades or professions, as well as mental, moral and aesthetic development. Formal education consists of systematic instruction, teaching and training by teachers. This consists of the application of pedagogy and the development of curricula. In a liberal education tradition, teachers draw on many different disciplines for their lessons, including psychology, philosophy, linguistics, biology, and sociology. Home

Sylvia Young Theatre School Young founded her theatre school in 1981 in Drury Lane, London before moving to its current Marylebone premises in The school is co-educational and provides a combination of academic and vocational classes for children aged 10 to 16 years. The academic curriculum currently encompasses GCSEs, while the vocational curriculum teaches acting, dance and music. Many SYTS students have gone on to become extremely successful in the performing arts world, including Denise Van Outen, Billie Piper and former Spice Girl, Emma Bunton. The upcoming High School Musical 3 film features an SYTS pupil, Jemma McKenzie-Brown. Also attending the school are two boys tipped to be the best actors ever: Jordan & Ceallach Home
