What now? Let’s see how well you are making progress on your senior project, and what you should focus on next… * This Powerpoint will be posted on the Senior Project website. Please refer back to it from home!

If you turned in 2 copies of each assignment, you should have completed copies of; – Topic Approval – Signed Parent Letter – Fall ELA classes only: Background research papers If not, stop by Mrs. Sharkey’s room to request a copy.

What do I have to do next? ALL Seniors need to turn in their Resume NO LATER THAN Dec. 16 th ! Late submissions will result in an F for the second marking period and athletic ineligibility.

Resume Assistance You may use your SSP to generate a resume! Just be sure to copy/paste into Word to edit spelling and remove the URL address. Ms. Setser will be available to help during lunches in the library on the following dates: – Monday, December 7 th – Friday, December 11 th – Monday, December 14 th

Resume Rubric It doesn’t fit well here, but you can find it on the Senior Project website! Please check it out before you submit your TWO copies to Mrs. Sharkey! Remember, ALL seniors need to submit the resume ON or BEFORE DECEMBER 16 th.

And then… The next major item that is due would be the Reflection & Results paper. For those of you with Spring ELA, we strongly encourage you to work on this paper as soon as possible, so you can focus on your research paper in January- February.

Reflection (due March 2)  3-5 pages - titled as: Reflection  This paper can be in the first person (“I”) and does not need citations.  Describe the process of your project, what you did, what you learned, and why it will help you in the future.  Tell the outcome of your project (if you had an event or creative project.)

Suggested Questions These questions will guide you while writing your Reflection paper: Background 1. Were you able to find enough print and electronic information on your topic? How did you evaluate those sources for relevancy and authenticity? 2. Were you able to extract the information you needed without plagiarizing, through careful note taking and citing of sources? 3. After using multiple sources of information, how did you decide what to keep and what to discard so that your research paper supported your thesis statement? 4. How was your time management for the research paper? Were you able to stay on the time schedule suggested for your senior project? 5. After using multiple sources of information, how did you decide what to keep and what to discard so that your research paper supported your thesis statement?

Questions continued Research 1. What did you learn about your topic that you didn't know before your research and does it support your thesis statement? 2. How did your research help you to draw certain conclusions regarding your thesis statement? Support your conclusions by quoting from your research using parenthetical documentation. 3. What did you learn about yourself? Did your research journey help you to have a better understanding or change your opinion and/or beliefs? 4. What aspect of your paper makes you feel most satisfied and/or proud? Why? 5. What was the most challenging part of completing your research paper? 6. What helpful and realistic tip or bit of advice would you give someone who is going to be writing his/her Senior Project paper next year? Why?

Questions continued Process 1. In what ways have your research skills grown? What do you think you did well? What do you think you could have done better? Skills you improved upon and skills you discovered lacking in yourself. 2. The high and low points of the experience. 3. Changes in your assumptions, perceptions, and attitudes. 4. Primary ways in which you helped others. 5. What you planned to do, but never quite pulled together 6. How was your time management for your project? Did you stay on the timeline the way you had planned? 7. What your performance on the project has to say about your fears, hopes, social skills, dreams, plans, knowledge, etc. 8. How has this project influenced possible career/post-secondary education choices/opportunities? 9. How you would do the same project differently next time?
