Ufficio Fondi Europei -Comune di Rieti 3 TOPICS ADDRESSED redesign and reconstruction of public spaces by using the power and common language of sport for the promotion of healthy lifestyle (focusing on deprived residential areas (e.g. postwar residential areas) of cities) implementing community-based and/or IT-based actions to redesign the public space linked to sport activities, urban sports, games, physical exercises, etc. in an innovative way promotion of ‘quick-win’ solutions (easy-to-organise solutions aiming to have a quick success in the beginning to motivate stakeholders, residents) better orchestrating the services coordinated by the city to promote healthy life style establishing innovative equipment(walking routes, etc.) to promote sport in public spaces methods Targeting residents, but especially youth social aspect – spatial aspect – business aspect while redesigning public spaces non organized sport activities, sport programmes, sport actions initiated by the city in public spaces to motivate local community for moving data inspired design for healthy lifestyle, policies / actions / city services in the field of healthy lifestyle, community engagement and social wellbeing participatory process, co-creation with the local communities, knowledge institutions, local governments and companies – triple- or quadruple helix approach Place making, place management

Profile of the city: social problems General impoverishment of the population with increasing inability of the families to meet the primary needs; Aging of population with increasing health and social needs and increasing demand for specialists facilities also for not self- sufficient people; lack of facilities and services that support the family in the cure after the hospital recovery and or adults and children-in-need; Increased number of multi-problematic families at great risk social exclusion of its members; Difficulties in integrating services, projects and social benefits both at managerial and professional level for reasons with the consequent fragmentation of interventions; percentage of families below the poverty line recorded a rate of 9.3%, higher than that of other provinces of Lazio;

Profile of the city: e conomic problems High youth unemployment rate due to the lack of availability of work and difficulties of reintegration within the labour market; elements of discomfort due to the functional depletion of important urban containers and monumental historical buildings, previously occupied by important local and national institutional settings or by commercial activities and craft workshops; crisis of companies in the electronic equipment and components for communications situated in the Industrial Core of Rieti; Decreased distribution of economic resources by the state and the region to the municipalities; Difficulty to make network between organizations belonging to different sectors;

Local problems/challenges in relation to the promotion of sport and healthy lifestyle insufficient number of professional trainers for sport activities; significant environmental and landscape heritage in order to improve the lifestyles of the inhabitants, integrating environmental quality with quality of life.
