HIEROGLYPHS The ends of reeds are used as paint brushes. Black ink is soot and water red ink is water and red earth.

Papyrus is expensive because it took a long time to make so they used pottery for quick notes.

You find hieroglyphs on most walls of monuments, tombs, and temples.

They put their sails up when they wanted to go south and they put their sails down and followed the river to the sea.

A cartouche is an oval around a royal person’s name.

Inside the pyramids there are lots of hieroglyphs that tell stories about pharaohs that were buried under the pyramid.
