Health Lesson Plan By: Amy Polston & Anthony Buford

INTASC Standard/Rationale Standard #4: Content Knowledge The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and creates learning experiences that make these aspects of the discipline accessible and meaningful for learners to assure mastery of the content. Description: We have created a lesson plan to promote physical activities, safety and preventing injury. We researched ways to accommodate everyone and to touch base with all these topics with in one subject. We reflected on the lesson plan and created practice for our future careers. Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #4: Content Knowledge, I selected to include my Health Education Lesson Plan because this assignment demonstrates by ability to add inquiry into my lesson plan and allow the student to direct their learning. Therefore, they are creating their own experiences to assure mastery in the content.

Standards describe ways to prevent common childhood injuries and health problems Standard 7 Understands that physical activity provides the opportunity for enjoyment, challenge, self expression, and social interaction Exhibit positive feelings about participation in physical activity Engage in the challenge of new activities. Example: Receptive to new games, sports, and rhythm activities Engage in and enjoys independent and interactive physical activity.
