The Project Danube-INCO.NET supports the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) in the field of research and innovation. The FP 7 funded coordination and support action cooperates mainly with PA 7 “Knowledge Society” and PA 8 “Competitiveness”. Within these two priority areas the project picks up several challenges related to research and innovation (R&I) cooperation between the different countries and regions.

Funding opportunities, but…

EUSDR Strategic Projects “EUSDR strategic projects are projects with high impact and visibility for the EUSDR. As such they could demonstrate the progress achieved in implementing the EUSDR and could strengthen and improve the communication on the EUSDR strategic focus. These projects could also serve as pilot examples for desired future changes (e.g. possible strategic support for embedding them into funding programs/sources).”  Collaboration across PAs is recommended

Bringing people together Issuing an event calendar and organizing several events on different levels (policy stakeholders, actors active in technology transfer, smart specialization or other support activities for research and innovation in the region)

Romanian Cluster Forum: "Cluster as Drivers of Value Chain Development Across the Danube Region" 05./ , Galati, Romania: The competitiveness gap existing between the Eastern Europe countries (including Romania) and the West of the continent has its roots in the low degree of innovation and internationalization at the level of small and medium enterprises. In this context, the Romanian clusters’ integration in international and multi-sector value chains is one of the most viable solutions that can speed up the “catch up” process in terms of innovation.

, Bratislava, Slovakia: This Networking event will target a wide spectrum of companies, universities and researchers in the field of energy from all over Europe and beyond interested in sharing new project ideas and finding collaboration within the upcoming calls in Horizon 2020, finding new business partners, consult project ideas with the experts. A matchmaking session is integrated into the program. Topics: smart energy & energy efficiency; renewable energy; R&D, policy making, governance and energy. Registration is open. Back to back with the conference will take place 5 th Clustering Workshop of Danube-INCO.NET on biomass. Energy Networking4Innovation

Seminar "Energy Innovations and Renewable Energy Sources Projects in the Danube Region" 15./ , Prague, Czech Republic. The aim of the Seminar is to describe funding opportunities for energy-related projects within the Danube Region and to provide a platform for Partner search and initialization of energy related Projects by assisting in the alignment of funding procedures. The Seminar was organized by Coordinators of PA 2 (“Energy”).

Supporting the development of bio-based economy partnerships in the Danube Region through a triple-helix approach 19./ , Budapest, Hungary: The conference, brokerage event and 4 th clustering workshop was one of the major events of Danube-INCO.NET. Its main objective was to support the university- business-government cooperation (triple-helix model) to enhance the establishment and development of bio-based economy partnerships in the target countries, tackling societal challenges in the field of food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, water research, bio-based economy and bio-energy. The conference gathered about 130 representatives of the academia, industry and government sectors. Participants represented more than 90 organizations from 16 countries.
