Structures, Strategies and Compositions Gathering Data

Today we will... Recap – Why Gather Data Gathering Data Strengths & Weaknesses of the fastbreak

Why Gather Data Bullet point as many reasons in 3 minutes

Why Gather Data...

1.Identify strengths & improvement needs 2.Strengths – use within the game (strategy/position) 3.Improvement need – further investigate 4.Collect specific data 5.Long & Short term targets 6.Use targets to create specific training programme 7.Use initial data to monitor improvements during training programme 8.Plan progression 9.Reassess 10.Check for improvement 11.Identify new targets

Gathering Data Strategy Analysis

Data gathering Fast Break Motion Offence ½ Court Man- Man Zone Defence Man-Man Point Guard Forward Centre Fastbreak General Data Strategy analysis Specific Data Fast break observation Role Effectiveness.

Step One General Data (Overall Performance) Strategy Analysis 5 Strategies 2 attacking and 3 defensive This observation schedule is used to identify strengths and weaknesses in the attacking and defensive strategies that your team uses. It should be completed by observing a your team playing in a competitive game against opponents of a similar ability. After completing the table, you should answer the questions at the bottom. Instructions

Step Two Specific Data (Assess fastbreak) Fastbreak Analysis Component parts of fastbreak This observation schedule is used to identify strengths and weaknesses in a team’s fastbreak. It should be completed by observing a 10 minute video of your team playing in a competitive game against opponents of a similar ability. After completing the table, you should answer the questions at the bottom. Instructions

Data Gathering Homework Starter Task

Describe how you gathered information on a structure strategy or composition you have used in an activity of your choice. (6) Step One General Data (Overall Performance) Strategy Analysis 5 Strategies 2 attacking and 3 defensive Starter Task Write an introduction and a general data gathering paragraph for the above question. The shot clock is on.. You have five minutes

Peer Marking - Marking Criteria Introduction Purpose of data gathering What did you want to know Video recorded, 3 competitive games, WHY Used video to complete Strategy Analysis, WHY Describe Strategy analysis observation schedule Assessed both offence and defensive strategies, name the 5 strategies, WHY assess all 5 What did you discover, WHY did you think this Strategy Analysis Introduction

Specific Data Fast break observation schedule Role effectiveness

Used initial video recording Describe Fast Break Observation Schedule Assessed all fastbreaks in game, not just one, true picture Broke fast break into 5 component parts, theses were Used (  ), (  ), (E), and also made a comment for every fast break Making a comment helped us better understand our strengths and weakness because it provided us with more information. For example What did you discover… Fastbreak Analysis Task 2 The shot clock is on.. You have five minutes Using the bullet points below explain how you gathered information on your teams use of the fastbreak Marking Criteria
