Introduction Title Author Genre Published LanguageEnglish 2003 Dan Brown The Da Vinci Code mystery-detective United Country

What is this story about? The story begins when an Opus Dei attempts to kill Jacques Saunière a respected curator of the Louvre museum in Paris, but Jacques Sauniere attempts to fight death because he has kept a secret for years. In order for the secrets he kept for years not to die with him, before he was killed he tried to convey the secret message to someone he strongly believed was able to read the message through the codes he would make. That person is Robert Langdon. Saunière's death was soon discovered by the police. Police officers suspected Robert Langdon, a Harvard symbologist to get involved in an investigation into the case of Sauniere's murder when chief investigator Bezu Fache discovered a secret message near Saunière's corpse that seemed to have something to do with Langdon. The message is a code. Summary

Sophie Nevue, the French police expert of cryptology who is also Sauniere's granddaugther believes that the secret message is for her and Sophie and Longdon's name is contained in the message. But Sophie believed that Longdon was not the murder suspect. As a result, they are accused of being the perpetrators of police killings. They both escaped from the police to the museum to find Sauniere's death message. They managed to uncover the first death message which means the Davinci Code's Monna Lisa painting, behind the painting there is a puzzle that leads them to the next message.

The next message is another Davinci Code painting of Madona Of The Rock. After finding a code hidden by Sauniere behind Da Vinci's painting. The key took them to the keystone that was a handmade wooden box that could only be opened by solving the puzzling puzzle. The keystone proved that Sauniere was the leader of the Priory of Sion, a legendary old fraternal society. This collection assumes the mission of securing the holy grail. After finding the message Langdon and Sophie decided to seek protection from one of Langdon's friends, an oxford historian named Sir Leigh Teabing with the help of the Da Vinci's The Last Supper, Sir Leigh explained that the holy grail is A metaphor of the Mary Magdalene The Priory of Sion maintains documents proving that Mary Magdalena. The priory Of Sion maintains documents proving that Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus and that the woman gave birth to the child of Jesus.

In this hiding place they were attacked by an Opus Dei monk named Silas who followed the orders of an unknown leader called by name but they tried to "Master" defeat him. Then they flew to England. In flight they try to solve the puzzle, but they only get a smaller cryptex. On Teabing's advice they went to the Templar Church. Langdon and Sophie then finish to solve the puzzle correctly that eventually led them to Newton's tomb at Westminster Abbey Here they were captured by Teabing aka "The mysterious Master, but both were rescued by Fache and Teabing were arrested.Sophie was surprised to find her grandmother and brother living there, having previously believed that they had died from an accident. From both Sophie knows that he is also a descendant of Jesus. Langdon left after promising to spend a romantic vacation with Sophie. In Paris Langdon got the idea, and after following the riddle correctly, he discovered that Magdalene's tomb was right in the center of the Louvre.

Literary Device THEMESTYLESETTING The fundamental and universal ideas explored in a literary. (The False Conflict between Faith and Knowledge) The plot is fast paced without being too hurried and is well threaded throughout. The characters reasonably well sketched and the identities of the main antagonis are not reveal until the end. Place : Paris, Versailles, London, outskrits of Edinburgh, Scotland. Time : Early twenty- first century

Characters  Sophie Neveu  Robert Langdon  Jacques Sauniere  Silas  Leigh Teabing  Jerome Collet  Bezu Fache  Sister Sandrine Bieil  Marie Chauvel  Simon Edward  Jonas Faukman  Pamela Gettum  Remy Legaludec  Andre Vernet  Bishop Aringarosa

Shopie Neveu: attractive, single, and very intelligent. .... see a young woman approaching. She was moving down the corridor toward them with long, fluid trides... a haunting certainty to her gait. Dressed casually in a knee-length, cream-colored Irish sweater over black leggings, she was attractive and looked to be about thirty. (p.42) ...“I've deciphered the numeric code,” (p.43)

Robert Langdon : intelligent, likable, good hearted, and trustworthy. .... His captivating presence is punctuated by an unusually low, baritone speaking voice, which his female students describe as 'chocolate for the ears.' " The hall erupted in laughter (p.8)  When Langdon turned the key, he felt his jaw drop. There, intricately embossed on the center of the cross, was a stylized fleur-de-lis with the initials P.S.! "Sophie," he said, "this is the seal I told you about! The official device of the Priory of Sion.“ (p.121)  My husband obviously trusted you, Mr. Langdon, so I do as well.(p.372)

Leigh Teabing : ambitious, as a teacher, have a polio, Holy Grail seeker.  Teabing's optimism darkened. "We are so close, Robert. Don't you dare start playing games with me!“ (p.355)  He knows!Teabing's heart craved that knowledge. His life's dream was right in front of him. "Tell me!" Teabing demanded. "Please! Oh God, please! It's not too late!“(p.358)  He had exploited both the Vatican and Opus Dei, two groups that turned out to be completely innocent. His dirty work had been carried out unknowingly by a fanatical monk and a desperate bishop.(p.360)

Jacques Sauniere : genius, puzzle. ..."Your grandfather was a genius.“(p.157)  "The account number," he said, a familiar lopsided grin now craning his face. "I'm pretty sure he left it for us after all.“

 Silas Cruel, brutal, fanatik to upus dei, a monk of Opus Dei, kill many people.  Bishop Aringarosa Kind to Silas, Bishop of Opus, cheated by Leigh Teabing.  Andre Vernet Minor role, quite intelligent, attractive.  Bezu Fache Strong, confident, captain in DCPJ, cheated by Leigh Teabing, an Opus Dei.  Sister Sandrine Bieil Nun and keeper of the Church of the Saint Sulpice, kind, loyal with her position.

 Jerome Collet Agent of DCPJ, commits numerous errors, kind, believe Shopie innocence.  Simon Edwards Desire of the rich, the executive services officer of Biggin Hill.  Jonas Faukman Langdon’s editor, eager to make money, classic man.  Pamela Gettum The religious librarian, kind soul, help Shopie and Langdon

 Remy Legaludec Teabing’s loyal butler, only one who know the secret of Teabing’s identity, money oriented.  Marie Chauvel Saint Clair Guardian of Rosslyn Chapel, Shopie’s long- lost grandmother.

Best part of story I like the ending of this story when Shopie’s grandmother tell her if her grandfather very loved her, and at the end Shopie accept her descendent of Jesus and Mary Magdalena.

Moral Messages :  No matter how dificult your problem, it always has the way to solve it if we have effort.  Never make a distance with your family, before you lost them forever.
